For a runner or walker, over a year without race events was a real bummer. There is no feeling in the world quite like race morning: the nervous energy standing shoulder to shoulder with other runners lined up at the start line, the chill in the morning air as you bounce around to warm up, and trying to decide if you have time to get through the port-a-potty line one more time before the race starts.
One fun, fall event to look forward to each year is the Tualatin Regatta Run. Like many other events, both the Tualatin Pumpkin Regatta and the Regatta Run were canceled last year due to COVID. Now that things are beginning to reopen, the City of Tualatin is hosting the famous Pumpkin Regatta again, and along with it, the Tualatin Rotary Club has stepped up to host the Regatta 5K Run. This race is fast, flat, and family-friendly. It’s one of the few races that allows kids, strollers, and even four-legged friends to participate. With costumes encouraged and trick-or-treating for the kids, it’s the perfect way to kick off the harvest season.
Proceeds from the race will support Tualatin Rotary Club’s youth programs, including their four-year college scholarship program, Books on Wheels, dictionary project, support of Tualatin High School Intercambio program and Helping Hands fund, international youth exchange program, and more! Now it’s time to dust off those sneakers and start hitting the pavement. Register now for this fun community event and we’ll see you at the Regatta Run on October 16th!
